A North Fitzroy terrace gets a facelift and a new garden with Field Office Architects.
The rear courtyard garden needed to serve many functions. First an entertaining/BBQ area, a vegetable garden, a lawn, and space for a clothesline. We designed an all-in-one concrete vegetable garden, seat, and BBQ. This would provide vegetables, herbs, and fragrances in the garden. Alongside and espalier Fig and Citrus facing north on softening the wall behind. Australian Bluestone steppers were added over an underground tank, framing a small lawn. This would provide a soft spot for a picnic blanket or a place to run through the sprinklers in summer for the client’s young family.
